Please be aware that Western Michigan University is currently being targeted by a phishing campaign which may result in you receiving a fraudulent message. Phishing is the fraudulent practice of sending emails to make individuals reveal personal information. These messages may appear to come from a legitimate source and will vary in content (not limited to the following): An enticing job offer, promising reimbursement for purchases or asking for financial and other personal information. A link to digitally sign an unexpected document which will prompt for your credentials. A link to “reactivate” your account which will prompt for credentials. Messages may also come from unknown sources (not limited to the following): Threatening to expose fictitious online behavior. Falsely identifying that someone has your password. Requesting payment to keep quiet about false accusations. These messages are not legitimate. Taking any action on messages of this nature may put your Western Michigan University account, as well as your personal and financial information at risk.
